The Final Countdown!

Dear readers,

We are just three days away from August 15. Do you know what that means? Well, first, it's when Parker takes her once-monthly Boniva (AKA her heartworm medication). But, also, it marks Erin Bolender's first day in her new decade! Go Flirty Thirty!!

Everyone, please remember to wish my darling Bobo a wonderful 30th birthday on Friday.

We've come a long way, baby:

08|08|08: It's Finally Here

I have been waiting for the Beijing Olympics since they were announced as the host city in 2001. I can't really describe the feelings I get watching these events every two years; they're overwhelming. I love the stories of the moms who took their kids to row practice every day at 4:30 AM, I love the camaraderie of the athletes, I love the architectural wonders cities create to host the games, and I love Kate Couric (now Meredith Viera, I guess) narrating us through the parade of nations, offering ridiculous facts about how many metals Andorra has received or how many Georgian athletes used to compete for the Soviet Union.

My two favorite moments from the Opening Ceremonies (so far):

The bubble ladies in Albertville:

The archer's true aim in Barcelona (I just teared up watching this one again!! How can I be such a nerd?!?!):

I was telling T this morning that I shouldn't have shaved -- I get such chills watching the Games. I guarantee you I will tear up tonight. Hey, I love fireworks, and since the Chinese invented them, I'm expecting nothing below awesome grandeur and majesty.

Little Jackie

I know no one cares, but here goes anyway.

I heard on VH1 about a new group called Little Jackie. It's a duo of two hot people but, she's not Jackie, and he's not Little. They've named themselves after Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's Little Jackie Wants to Be A Star.

They have a fun retro sound, which I'm tired of thinking of as fun; however, one of their songs is a plea to Amy Winehouse to get help. I think that's fun.

Check out their pleas to Amy with Crying For The Queen.

And my personal favorite: Black Barbie. This video rocks, and I love a good Diane Sawyer shout out!!

Enjoy.
