I usually leave the political commentary up to Brady, but I feel I must share this fair and balanced article:

It's rather laughable, right? Nothing is really fair or balanced about it at all, and I don't need to go into what we've all known for years about Fox News. But it's just a really bad piece of journalism. There are way more comments from conservatives than gay activists, and there are two points where the piece takes wild tangents: the discussion about Mid-Atlantic Leather weekend (what?? what does it have to do with the inauguration at all??) and the Prop 8 mention.

Hasn't it been proven that Prop 8 protesters never harmed anyone? Isn't it S.E. Cupp's responsibility to offer a rebuttal to Rev. Mahoney's claim that protesters were "defacing and vandalizing churches and places of worship, and attacked people of faith because they did not share their beliefs?"

And, really, what kind of name is S.E. Cupp anyway?

An Annual Holiday Tradition

Happy New Year, dear readers. I hope that 2009 brings you health, wealth, and love. You deserve it.

I just returned from two holiday trips, and boy are my arms tired. I'm certainly not complaining, no not me, but it was a lot of work. I'm looking forward to getting back into a less hectic daily routine.

As soon as I got home, I setttled into my new favorite holiday tradition: struggling to get through the Kennedy Center Honors. I got turned onto this dead horse of a show back when Beyonce killed a rendition of Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" in 2005, and Ms. Knowles-Carter did it again this year. TrinityAGH, how can you not love her?

Beyonce wowed me in her tribute to Barbara Streisand by singing "The Way We Were." Her performance is delicate, and simple, and lovely. I watched it twice yesterday, and just watched it two more times this morning. I love her look, her hair, her earrings, she's just butter, so they say.

But, my true favorite was Bettye LaVette killing a song I'd never heard before in a tribute to The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey. Why Ms. LaVette is not a household name, I'll never know -- according to Wikipedia, she only recently gained fame with her 2007 album The Scene of the Crime. Wacky, are you a fan? I'm guessing you are and know all about her.

She performed "Love Reign O'er Me," and I promise you won't be able to stop watching it. Her voice has an ease and a sadness to it that is intoxicating. I'm going to have to find more of her work for sure.

I Hate (To Admit) This Part

I hate to admit this, but The Pussycat Dolls have a new song out, "I Hate This Part," that I'm really digging. I'm hearing it a lot, so it won't be long before it's overplayed. But I'm going to enjoy it while it still sounds fresh.

I also heard a Dave Aude remix of the song driving in to work this morning that I really liked. Both versions are great; the original is a nice uptempo ballad, and the remix is a great club thumper. Hopefully Wacky will be providing us with free downloads soon (hint, hint).

Check out the video, coz it brings the LOLZ. My favorite giggle moment comes when Nicole Schadenfreude or whatever that last name of hers is "plays" the piano. YEAH, RIGHT! Otherwise, it's actually kind of a pretty video. Enjoy.

I saw a Sarah Palin 2012 bumper sticker on my drive home yesterday. My only thought was, "Already?" Let's at least get Mr. O. in office for a couple of days before we start running the next campaign.

Anywho, I was searching for Palin 2012 bumper stickers and found a lot of great merchandise off Cafe Press.

True Blood = True Love

As I mentioned earlier, after Hurricane Ike, we went without cable for something like 35 days. It was quite miserable, especially because I knew new fall shows were starting, and I was missing out. Oh the humanity!

Anyway, I'm just now catching up, and I watched two episodes of "True Blood" last night. WOW. It's so fun, it's so sexy, it's so scary. I love it. Alan Ball is the genious creator/writer, and he brought us "American Beauty" and "Six Feet Under." I've been waiting for this show since I first heard about years ago.

But, for some reason, critics aren't loving it so much, and I don't know why. It's all I can do to sit here at work right now and not call in sick so I can stay home and finish the whole season. Thankfully, it has been renewed for a second season.

Please remember, if you watched the show, I'm only up to episode three. Don't spoil the fun (this means you, TRICIA!!).

If you're not watching, you should. Who doesn't love slow drawling Southern Gothic dramas about hot, sexy vampires? And one more thing, if you're not watching, you're missing out on this guy, Ryan Kwanten:

The Pink Armageddon needed a break. I was not inspired to post anything, I was held up by trying to be important or clever or even interesting. I'm lazy and a procrastinator by nature. So sue me.

I was just thinking about my original intent -- to not offer anything "new, entertaining, or of merit." So that is where I will return. This is my Back to Basics post. From this point on, I will not try to post long, important diatribes on politics (for that, see Some Guys Are Normal, please). I'm just going to post quick snippets of pop culture-y things. YouTube videos that I enjoy. Or about some song I stole from Wacky on The Junk that I'm crushing on at the moment.

Consider The Pink Armageddon as no more nutritious than any ol' issue of US Weekly or an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (gawd I loved that show).

If any of you, my dear readers, are still out there, thank you for sticking with me. I'm back and as unimportant as ever. And I'm doing this for you, my fans, because you keep me grounded.

So, what's happened since my pre-Hurrican Ike post on September 9? Here's a quick list in no order, chronological, importance, or otherwise:

Madonna came to town, and held court at a baseball stadium. Queens were everywhere.

Hurricane Ike also came to town, and he ruined our carpet and stole cable from us for over a month. As God is my witness, as God is my witness, I'll never not have cable again - no, nor any of my folks! If I have to lie, steal, cheat, or kill, as God is my witness, I'll never not have cable again.

I saw "Rachel Getting Married," and I was sad for about a day. WOW what a movie and what a bunch of amazing performances.

Ditto for "Milk" -- Sean Penn needs that Oscar again.

Dexter Season Three has just catapulted the show into Six Feet Under/Sopranos status of greatness.

Obama brought hope back to the US. That election made me proud to be an American (for real, and I know it sounds "important," but this one can't go without mention).

I saw Dame Edna AND Madame in concert. Dame Edna was amazingly funny, but I may have been the only one laughing.

Beyonce pretended to be some girl named Sasha, and when T's not looking, I pretend to be Beyonce. Can "Single Ladies" and "If I Were A Boy" be any better? And the videos? If those videos can't bring the medium back, artists need to stop worrying about making them. WOW, great songs and great videos.

Rosie O'Donnell couldn't get her variety show off the ground. It's too sad, because I live for that crazy Rosie. She makes me happy. Again, I may be the only one on that, too.

"Kath & Kim" premiered on NBC and has quickly become my new favorite camp TV show. If you decide you can only watch one episode, go to NBC.com and watch the one called, "Gay." Thank you Whitney Houston and cable ladies.

Today, 30 years ago, I came screaming into this world, and it's a better place because of it. Go me! Now, I anxiously await my father's annual email ("X years ago, your mother and I left our house as a couple for the last time..."), dinner and martinis with friends, cake, a round of my favorite game, "What I like most about Jack." I make everyone play each year. Loves it.

I think I'm excited about turning 30. Why not? It's something new. Let's just say it's step one in my re-invention process.

I have been waiting for the Beijing Olympics since they were announced as the host city in 2001. I can't really describe the feelings I get watching these events every two years; they're overwhelming. I love the stories of the moms who took their kids to row practice every day at 4:30 AM, I love the camaraderie of the athletes, I love the architectural wonders cities create to host the games, and I love Kate Couric (now Meredith Viera, I guess) narrating us through the parade of nations, offering ridiculous facts about how many metals Andorra has received or how many Georgian athletes used to compete for the Soviet Union.

I heard on VH1 about a new group called Little Jackie. It's a duo of two hot people but, she's not Jackie, and he's not Little. They've named themselves after Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's Little Jackie Wants to Be A Star.

They have a fun retro sound, which I'm tired of thinking of as fun; however, one of their songs is a plea to Amy Winehouse to get help. I think that's fun.

***UPDATE: According to Michelle Williams' web site, Unexpected won't be released until October. Sigh. I don't know why I thought it was coming out in August. However, Wikipedia is "reporting" that it will be released in Poland in August. Of course, Poland. She's huge there, I hear.

Dearest readers, have you noticed that a lot of new Hip Hop / R&B songs are bringing out some fun dance beats? I first noticed it with Usher's Love in This Club. It's all a little down tempo, but it's fun, and I'm sure Wacky has some great remixes for all these songs.

Here's a selection of videos for songs that seem to be following this (fun) trend. Side note: I'm very excited about Michelle Williams' new pop/dance album -- the gay rags are giving it good reviews, and with its August release date, it will tide me over until I can go out and get J Hud's new CD in September!! This, dear readers, is absolutely real. Found it on Yahoo!, saw it on other pages, and let me tell you, it's absurdity at it's finest.

Can you believe it? It sort of makes my skin crawl and my stomach turn, and then, I want to start it over at the beginning.

First of all, we have a woman senator, too. I wonder if Big Bad John's senior colleague appreciates all the misogyny and stupid good ol' boy rhetoric he's spewing?

This ad is idiotic. But, look at the product. And just because it's not paid for by his own campaing doesn't mean he didn't know what he was doing.

From the Fort Worth Star Telegram: "'This was a good-natured introduction we did at the Houston convention a couple of weeks ago.'

When the video was shown at the convention, Cornyn told delegates: 'My staff convinced me that it would be a good idea. Maybe I need a new staff.'"

Apparently, I'm a little late on this ridicule bandwagon, and it's already been on The Daily Show, but it sure doesn't hurt to continue spreading the word. Remember, this man is the one who tried to equate gay marriage rights to bestiality with his famous box turtle comment.

And just in case you forgot that quote:
"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right ... [N]ow you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

Please vote against this fellow Trinity alumnus in November. He's up against Rick Noriega, a Houston native and state lawmaker. At the very least, he can't be as bad as this idiot.

Should I Photoblog?

I like photography a lot, but I only took one class in college. That was before the digital camera era, and I LOVED the darkroom experience, no matter that I wasn't so good at it. I wish I'd found out earlier in college that I liked photography and could have continued studying it. Oh well.

Now with digital cameras, every Tom, Dick, and Mary has a photoblog. One of my favorites is Andy Bell's Deceptive Media. By favorite, I mean, I only check out his. Any of you readers have a favorite I should know about?

So my question is this -- would any of you care to see my "art?" Ha ha. It's hard to even write that, much less believe it for myself. If I posted photos here every once in a while, would you laugh at me? Can we just keep that to quiet snickering behind my back? That would be OK by me.

And, listen, I don't need critiques or constructive criticism. I only want positive feed back. For example, you could say, "ZOMG that's the most beautiful photograph I've ever seen. I am moved."

1. Roatan, Honduras -- T and I went jungle hopping on a zip line tour; probably the most "adventurous" thing I've ever done.

2. Santiago de Compostela, Spain -- where I watched pilgrims reach the final destination of their spiritual journeys, hanging out with St. James.

3. Lamesa, Texas -- Childhood home of my father, and where my grandparents had a cotton farm. I used to spend summers there, where I shot my first riffle (etc.), caught my first frog, and got my first taste of strawberry wine. Not really, but it was heaven there, a place I remember fondly.

4. The La Brea Tar Pits, Los Angeles, California -- Boy, was T mad when I made him go there. Yep, it really is just a big pit of stinky, bubbling tar.

4 Jobs I've Had

1. San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts: A cool internship where I got to document this man's collection of 20th Century paintings and even led the museum talk about it. Also, I learned I never want to have a career in a museum.

2. Americorps VISTA Volunteer: I learned how much I hate bureaucracy. I figured out pretty quickly that at Jason's Deli, you can order a cup of soup and then eat free muffins and ice cream.

3. Trinity University Department of Music: I moved pianos.

4. Plus, I've pretty much made a career out of being bad ass.

Today is special day for T and me -- it's our NINTH anniversary. It doesn't even seem possible. We started this adventure nine years ago when I fell in love--pretty much instantly--during a college spring break trip. No one had ever understood me or connected with me like T did on that trip, and I had no idea someone could be so kind or accepting or make me feel so happy.

Not much has changed on that level in these last nine years, really. He still makes me smile when he enters a room, he still knows how to make me laugh, he still understands me when I have a bad day, and he still puts up with all my ridiculousness (which is a lot -- ask around). You couldn't ask for anything better, and I'm the luckiest fella in the world.

This post was harder to write than I expected, mainly because when you write feelings down, they start to sound a little saccharine. This is truth, though: I love T for everything he is and will love him forever. Happy anniversary, T.

So, bloggerfriends, you may not know that I dabble a little in poetry. I don't share it often, but I wrote something that I think describes my feelings for T pretty clearly. I hope you enjoy it:

The Pink Armageddon Endorses Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

After attending an electrifying rally for Senator Barack Obama and a reception and Q&A led by Chelsea Clinton, I can confidently recommend that Pink Armageddon readers should select Senator Hillary Clinton to be the nominee for the Democratic Party.

This year marks the first year in my voting life that, as Texans, we have a powerful say in a presidential election, and I have not taken this choice very lightly, nor has it been easy for me. I feel that Senator Clinton can lead this country to many great things, and I will confidently support her through the remaining days of the primary process.

Senator Clinton has defined plans, with specifics that make sense to me, for health care, for national security, for foreign policy, for tax breaks for the middle and lower classes. Her level of experience, her drive, her passion to help Americans have all given me hope that she is the right choice for our country. I strongly request that on Tuesday, March 4, you will head to your polls and select Ms. Clinton.

That said, if Senator Clinton does not win the nomination for her party, I have no problem in supporting Senator Obama in a general election. Any other year, I would be there with the masses, charged to help Senator Obama follow through with a victory. I just feel that at this time, Senator Clinton is the better choice of the two, and I honestly don't think it's fair that they are making me pick one over the other. My vote for Ms. Clinton is not a vote against Mr. Obama.

So, voters and bloggerfriends, head out to your polls. Pull the lever for Hillary, and let's hope that the next administration can help bring America back.

Tippecanoe and Tyler Too

Well, this week, I had arranged to see There Will Be No Country for Bloody Old Men. Those are the last two big Oscar movies I have yet to see before Sunday night's Gay Super Bowl.

However, the week has taken a different political turn. For those of you not here in Texas, you may not know this, but my vote has never really counted. We're such a red state that I've always been on the wrong side of the voting booth. But, with the dead heat race shaping up between Hillary and Barack, I am actually going to have a say.

So, I have to figure out *what* to say. And I'm excited to say that I'm going to my first political rallies to go find out. Tonight, T and I are headed to the Toyota Center to see Barack speak to the masses. 17,000 tickets were offered, and it's sold out. He's the new Madonna!

And, tomorrow night, I'm going to a reception to meet Chelsea (!!), who plans on telling all of us why we should vote for her mom.

I've always loved Chelsea -- she and I are the same age, and I've always thought she was super cool. I think she should run for president in 2016, and I plan on telling her that tomorrow.

I just don't know who to choose. I don't want a vote for one to be a strike against the other. Can't they just play rock-paper-scissors, pick who'll be president, and then go save the world? When the president finishes in 2016, the vice-president can just take over from him/her.

Don't make me choose! I want both!

Maybe after Wednesday evening, I'll have made a decision. If so, I'll proudly announce my endorsement here.

Roger Clemens: Is It Worth It?

Earlier today, I tried to find online a link to how much a standard congressional hearing costs. Apparently, our Big Brother government keeps the democratic inter webs from freely posting congressional costs (or, at least, those links aren't in the top three hits on Google -- I'm not a fan of scrolling). Seriously though, I didn't find a solid answer, just people asking the same question: how much does a congressional hearing cost?

The reason I am wondering is because I really don't think Congress needs to continue hearing testimony from Roger Clemens and his former injector. Surely, our Representatives and Senators have other things they can be doing. Certainly, there are bigger issues at hand to research.

If baseball players want to shoot up so much HGH and steroids that their balls fall off, let them. I don't really care. And I don't think Congress needs to be involved. Isn't that what the Major League Baseball Commissioner should deal with?

What I do care about is this waste of time and money.

I imagine that a Congressional Hearing ain't cheap.

Senators and Reps, if you're readers here of The Pink Armageddon, take note. I have a few suggestions on areas that could use your time, money, and energy:

African AIDS Relief
Darfur
Myanmar
Investigating Guantanamo Bay and torture allegations
Spaying and Neutering Pets
Autism
Saving polar bears
Building schools in Irag and Afghanistan

It's just so absurd that Nutless Roger Clemens is making these kinds of headlines; that he's taking time away from our Congressional Representatives; that I'm spending money on this. For what purpose? What do I gain from knowing the truth? Did I send elected officials to Washington to give me a voice in these hearings? I am a better person for knowing Roger Clemens did or did not use performance enhancing drugs? Wouldn't we be a better nation if we sent our money to Africa to stop HIV/AIDS?

So, you tell me -- is it worth it?

These three months have been trying for me. But now we can all breathe a sigh of relief. The writers have voted to approve their new deal, and the strike is over.

That means the Oscars are saved!!! We can start planning our Oscars parties and place our wagers on who will give the most boring speech. You have no idea how great this news is for The Pink Armageddon!

T compared the prospect of my not having an Oscars ceremony to watch to some apparently rough time in his life when baseball went on strike. Sure, T, I'm sure it felt the same.

Anyway, so now, who's it gonna be? Marion Cotillard, Julie Christie (The Pink Armageddon review), Ellen Page? My money's on Julie Christie. Thoughts?

I'm so glad we'll start seeing new episodes of shows again soon.

Mud Bugs R Here

It's crawfish season, friends, and tomorrow, the gang and I are headed out for our first feast of the year. When I moved to Houston, I had no idea how Cajun everyone was. So many crawfish festivals, so many banjos, so many bottles of Tony Chachere's. I was born where mud bugs aren't eaten, so I had to be taught the fine art of chowing down. I'm not very fast or smooth at peeling all their little heads off, but I do enjoy it so. My mama would NOT be pleased. :)

It's such a fun, social event -- I love the atmosphere and the camraderie and the lack of plates. Every year, T's family takes me to the UH crawfish festival, and that's a tradition I've grown to look forward to. What is it about tearing apart a river creature that brings people together? It's probably all the beer...

Anyway, if you're in Houston and want to get down and dirrty with us cajun style tomorrow, give me a holler.

ZOMG This Sounds Awful

CelebTV.com (never heard of this site before) has posted a 17 second snippet of Madonna's new song 4 Minutes to Save the World. I really hope this is a raw and unfinished version. It's awful. What is she thinking? The leaks I've heard from this new Justin Timberlake infused album are not what I was hoping for.

Thoughts? Here's a thought -- it's absurd, and I can't really tell when Madge stops and JT starts. It sounds like Hung Up meets Me Against the Music swirled with some throwaway songs from JT's last album. And is she saying "Come on boy, I've been waiting for someone to pick up my stove?" LOL, like she's sitting around her flat in London waiting for the Sears guy.

I'm really scared this is going to be a big ol' bomb. I really hope I'm wrong about this when the album comes out later this spring.

You know me -- I'll probably love it and start making YouTube homage videos soon.

Hi, dear readers. 2008 has begun, and my ability to post regularly hasn't improved. I think I get nervous. Performance anxiety or something. I hope after this next week, I'll get better at this whole blog thing. Thank you, readers, for your patience, as I work this out in my head.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I'm headed to two big trips this week. First, I'm off to the AWP Conference in New York City **insert audible of crowd of cowboys who yell "New York City??" a la a Pace Picante Sauce commercial**, where I will be presenting on arts programs that teach creative writing in schools and how to respond creatively to the challenges posed by standards-based education and the workbook diet imposed by No Child Left Behind.

Hot, right?

But, it's in New York City! I have plans to check out Mood, the fabric store from Project Runway, pinkberry, because everyone loves frozen goodness in New York City in January, and, what I'm most excited about -- a showing of Spring Awakening.

It's the b*tch of living, peeps!

I totally heart broadway musicals, so I'm basically biding time until Friday night's performance.

And then, to add to the frenzy, I'm flying from New York to New Orleans to meet the gang for my EIGHTH Mardi Gras. It has become my family reunion, and I can barely contain my excitement. I think I'd be a lot more excited if I weren't freaking out trying to figure out how to pack for two big adventures in a row.

Parker came into our lives in April, 2007 as a three-month old puppy. Today is her first birthday, we think, which means she is a Capricorn. The interwebs tells me that Capricorns often wear masks to prevent people from seeing the real person they are, but those who take the time will find them to be loyal and affectionate. That's our Parker.

Tonight, a couple of friends are coming over to help celebrate our baby's first birthday. I promise some pictures of the festivities.

My alma mater, Trinity University, just received a special honor from TIME magazine -- Sports Moment of the Year! How exciting is that!

At a game at Millsaps College, Trinity came from behind with this amazing play to win the game. The sportscasters alone are worth checking out the video.

Not Getting Any Younger

Last night, I went to dinner with the gang. I came home, and I fell asleep in my clothes (wallet still in the back pocket) at 9:00 PM. I was ready to start the day this morning at 5:00 AM.

Readers, I'm scared. That's my parents' schedule! When I was a wee one, my parents would record the shows that came on at 9:00 PM so they could watch them the next day because they couldn't stay awake that long.

Is this the beginning of the end? How long till I start watering the yard in my robe at 4:30? It is better for the yard, they say.

Jodie Foster: COME OUT!

This morning, T and I were watching one of my favorite shows, Good Morning America (Robin, we're pulling for ya!!), and on their "news" crawl, we saw a headline that says something like Jodie Foster acknowledges she is a lesbian after 15 years of being with her partner Cydney Bernard. I was so excited! I said, "hey, finally, she's come out, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief."

T said that that's not news because he'd heard her say this last week, and I had too because it was all over Perez Hilton, etc. About a week ago, she thanked Ms. Bernard in an award acceptance speech. She never mentioned the word lesbian or partner, just said something about Cydney being with her a long time.

I thought that for this new ABC headline, what had happened was that Jodie had finally given an interview or revealed this truth in some reputable article or news outlet, confirming the gossip from last week.

It turns out, CNN ran a report about this same acceptance speech last night; they're a week late! And now, because CNN said it, the other news media folks are reporting it as news. Nothing has changed -- no confirmation, no scoop, no public acknowledgment, no kissing, no article with The Advocate. Still just a simple thank you in a speech.

So, Perez Hilton and the gossip blogosphere scooped the "real" news.

My point really is not to debate the relevance of CNN vs. Perez or to discourse on what is "news." That's for like a real serious-minded blog, something like Some Guys Are Normal (check it out!!). I just want to tell Jodie to come out. I wonder if she's a reader here at The Pink Armageddon?

Jodie: COME OUT! In a perfect world, you're right, we wouldn't have to. But the more middle America sees us in all sorts of positions, the easier it would be. You are a great actress, a good director, and a good mom. You're smart. You are in a powerful position. You HAVE to be a role model, whether you want to be or not. COME OUT, and make it easier for the next kid down the line. It's not a perfect world yet, so help us out. Go tell Diane Sawyer or Oprah about it.

Away From Her

Last night the gang and I took in a viewing of Away From Her (read Ebert's review), in which Julie Christie's character, Lara, falls in love with a married Russian doctor, and their torrid and snowy affair frames the tumultuous Bolshevik Revolution.

Wait, sorry, wrong snow-drenched, sad, Julie Christie film.

Actually, the movie was fabulous. It was directed by Sarah Polley, and hit home pretty hard. My family on both my mother's and my father's sides has been hit by Alzheimer's, and one of my biggest fears is that I will get the disease, too. I would hate to have to put T (my partner) through that.

There were some gut-wrenching scenes. The most difficult scene for me happened early in the film as the husband sat and watched a holiday dinner taking place at the home where he was going to place his wife. Gradually, each patient's family finished their time there, said their goodbyes, and took their leave, leaving the patients to their loneliness and their confusion.

I myself have left my grandmother at many of those holiday dinners, and it was just too accurate. I highly recommend you rent this film. It provides such a clear picture into the way this disease can strike a family, and Julie Christie is elegant and shines, and, I imagine, will be nominated and/or win many acting awards.

Is "Unfascinating" A Word?

Last night, ABC aired the 93rd Annual Barbara Walter's Ten Most Fascinating People special. Apparently 2007 was a snooze for everyone. I couldn't keep my eyes open, and a show with the words "most fascinating" in the title ought to not put its viewers to sleep. Hey, at least here at The Pink Armageddon, I don't fall victim to false advertising. You can sleep through any post you like. That's my promise to you.

I digress. Barbara's lead ins were like Saturday Night Live parodies of Barbara Walters lead ins. It was a joke. Where's Rachel Dratch when you need her? Anyway, the whole show was boring and a collage of clips from other interviews she's already done. It was like a 20/20 and Oscar Special mix tape.

Kudos, though, to ABC for sneaking in the free advertising for Grey's Anatomy. Katherine Heigl? Please.

Did anyone else watch last night? No? I don't blame you.

And don't get me started on the Julia Roberts tribute from the American Cinematheque. Don't even get me started.

I'm late to blogging and behind the curve. But I offer to you, dear friends, the newest entry in the blogosphere: The Pink Armageddon.

Manifesto: I promise to say nothing new. I will offer no fresh perspectives. You will not learn anything here to offer to your friends or colleagues. Originality and wit will not be featured here. Mostly, you'll get clichés and old news.

There's really no reason to come here at all, unless you enjoy reading along as I blog about The Simpsons, Meryl Streep, campy videos, New Orleans, the Oscars, and me.

The origin of The Pink Armageddon: My dear friends sent me a link to a YouTube video of Liza Minnelli and the Pet Shop Boys' Don't Drop Bombs. I fell in love, and fast. Liza, in glorious Mad Max garb, takes over the future, which of course is war torn and pink. I knew then and there that I had a blog name, a blog theme, and a blog post to offer.

See for yourself (and tell me you don't fall in love, too):

When I googled the name "Pink Armageddon" to see if some other queen had stolen my inspiration, I found out that Erasure wrote a song with the words pink armageddon called "Star." It's a perfect alignment -- Liza *and* Erasure. I figure this is cosmic destiny, and so this blog is born.

I promise my next post will neither be as entertaining as this birth announcement (or as long).
